Pre and Post Care for Microneedling with PRP

Pre-Treatment Care
  1. Preparation with Ashley:
During your appointment, Ashley will take the time to discuss your medical history, skin concerns, and treatment goals. This personalized consultation ensures that the microneedling with PRP treatment is tailored to your specific needs, maximizing its benefits. It's crucial to inform Ashley if you're taking any medications, as some can affect the procedure or your skin's healing process. For example, blood thinners like warfarin and heparin, and common pain relievers like aspirin and ibuprofen, can increase your risk of bruising and bleeding. If you've been using isotretinoin (Accutane) for acne, you'll need to wait at least six months after stopping it before undergoing microneedling, as it can slow down skin healing. Steroids and immunosuppressants can also impact your immune response, raising the risk of infection. Additionally, certain antibiotics can make your skin more sensitive to light, potentially causing reactions.
  2. Skin Preparation:
Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least one week before your session to prevent increased skin sensitivity. Refrain from taking anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen or aspirin, as they can increase the risk of bruising.
  3. Healthy Lifestyle:
Stay hydrated and maintain a balanced diet rich in antioxidants. This supports overall skin health and enhances the effects of the treatment.
Post-Treatment Care
  1. Immediate Aftercare:
Post-treatment, your skin may appear red and feel sensitive. This is a normal response and usually subsides within 24-48 hours. Use the recommended soothing serum and moisturizer to aid in the healing process and keep your skin hydrated.
  2. Sun Protection:
Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily to protect your skin from UV damage, as it will be more sensitive to the sun. Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least two weeks post-treatment.
  3. Hydration and Nourishment:
Continue to drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from within. Incorporate gentle, hydrating skincare products and avoid harsh chemicals or exfoliants for at least one week.
  4. Healing and Recovery:
Refrain from intense physical activities, hot showers, and saunas for 48 hours to prevent irritation. Avoid using makeup for at least 24 hours to allow your skin to breathe and heal naturally.
